The Ulster Scottish Pipe Band organization is comprised of two competition bands: the Grade 3 Ulster Scottish Pipe Band, and the Grade 5 Thomas I Hall Memorial Pipe Band.
Thomas I Hall Memorial Pipe Band was formed in 2005, in remembrance of Tom Hall. Tom was Pipe Major of the Ulster Scottish Pipe Band for 42 years. TIHMPB is a Grade 5 competition band. The Band is under the direction of Pipe Major Traci Cooper (Tom’s Daughter) and Lead Drummer Sophie McConnell.
Ulster Scottish Pipe Band is not affiliated with any political, ethnic or religious organization. It is a diverse group of individuals with one common goal: good music.
The bands compete at an average of 10 Scottish Games each year, and also perform in various parades and other venues. We are a family-oriented band focused on competition. Both bands are dedicated to teaching. New members are always welcome. We practice weekly on Thursday evenings and once monthly on Sundays in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Our grade 3 band welcomes long-distance members provided they are at an ability level capable of playing with the band with only once monthly practice attendance. If you are interested in playing with the band or learning to play, please e-mail us.
